Ying Yang Twins rapper Deongelo Marquel “Deroc” Holmes was reportedly pulled over and arrested last week in Atlanta on a Driving Under the Influence of alcohol charge with kids in his car.
Although the arrest took place last Friday (June 1), details on what went down have only recently surfaced.
Deongelo Marquel “Deroc” Holmes, a member of the Ying Yang Twins, was pulled over by Gwinnett County police June 1 after he was seen allegedly swerving as he drove an SUV on Old Norcross Road near Herrington Road in the Lawrenceville area. An officer “saw it weave, basically. He crossed the center line several times,” Gwinnett police spokesman Cpl. Jake Smith told Channel 2. When police spoke to Holmes, Smith said, the officer “smelled alcohol. He smelled marijuana when the driver rolled down the window.” Police said they found in the vehicle marijuana, Xanex and a 3-year-old toddler and 2-month-old baby in car seats in the rear.
Following a sobriety test, the Ying Yang Twins member was arrested and charged.
During a sobriety test conducted by the arresting officer, the officer describes Holmes’ walk as “slow and unsteady”, his eyes “bloodshot and glazed” and his speech “slurred and slow.” In the arrest report the officer noted that Holmes smelled like marijuana and that he was, both, “friendly and cooperative”. Holmes was arrested during the stop and charged with possession of less than an ounce of marijuana, possession of controlled substance, DUI, child endangerment and driving on highway laned for traffic.
The rapper has kept busy of late recently remixing pop star Justin Bieber‘s “Boyfriend” anthem.
When Justin Bieber dropped his single “Boyfriend” last month, some music connoisseurs compared the track to the Ying Yang Twins’ 2005 hit “Wait (The Whisper Song).” The song’s tempo and production, Bieber’s lyrical delivery, and the general whispery, low-key vibe of the track are reminiscent of the Twins’ track. Well, the Ying Yang Twins returned the favor on Wednesday by dropping their remix of the song. The track opens with the Twins proclaiming, “Ying Yang and Justin Bieber, oh!” and from there, they spit some sexy lines about whisking a girl off her feet.
The Ying Yang Twins also dropped their new “Up” remix around mid-May.
Ying Yang Twins are back again! After taking a trip with Justin Bieber to remix his latest single, the Twins now put their own spin on Loverance’s “Up”. The track, “Up”, is a perfect fit for the ATLien duo, who have long incorporated ‘beat the pu**y up’ in many of their past songs. The Ying Yang Twins get busy on the beat, as they drop bar after bar of their patented raunchy lyrics. With all these new Ying Yang flavored tracks coming out, I can’t help but wonder if the fellas are gearing up to drop some new material; only time will tell.
